RESTORATION OF MANNBORG HARMONIUM #29833

The restoration of this Mannborg harmonium has started in May 2014 by Hans van Breugel being supported by Louis Huivenaar. The main goal of this restoration was to make this instrument durable, playable and complete again without too much concern about the historical value. Since it was my first harmonium restoration it also served as a starting course for my restoration skills.

For this restoration two almost identical versions of the Mannborg Style 28 ("Sonata") were being used. Version #29833 is being kept as the core instrument, while version #29510 is mainly being used for replacing some missing or damaged cabinet parts. Both instruments were built in 1915.

The original brochure of this instrument:

The bellows have been fully restored.

The reed pan needed repair of loose connections.

The stop action mainly needed cleaning and adjustment.

Many of the keys needed a replacement of the celluloid.

The stop board was replaced by a spare one.

The cabinet has been fully leached and newly stained.
